DSM Week 11

Had a good week. Stuck to the training plan very close this week (39.72 miles -> planned 39 miles) We added a little bit onto the long run because both Rick and I were feeling really good even with a fast ave pace than on our last long run. I actually did miles 15.5-18 at a 7:00 with my HR just barely under threshold.

DSM Marathon Week 11 update (6 weeks to go)

Running felt great this week. Both my 8 mile runs during the week were at a 8 min/mile pace, which is good for me. I have not done a 10k this year, but last year, 8 min/miles was my 10k pace.

DSM Week 10

Recovery week this week. I decided to run hill repeats on Tuesday instead of my normal hill loop. It went pretty well, but I can tell I am still a little weak in the legs compared to what I used to be. I need to get a strength workout incorporated but I just cannot find the time...
DSM Weeks 8 & 9

I was pretty busy last week so I didn't get a real chance to post anything. Both last week and this week I almost hit my entire plan for the week so I really feel like I am making some progress to get back to where I used to be. I still think a race goal of BQ time is a little unrealistic, but I would like to shoot for a sub 3:30 now.

DSM Marathon Week 9 update (8 weeks to go)

Really quick post. Did weekly mileage per plan, 2.5, 7, 7, 19. (2.5 was supposed to be 3). First 14 of 19 felt great, last few were tough. It was getting hot and the water stations were low on water. Averaged 8:50 pace, which was similar to the 18 the week before.
This week is a recovery week. Planning on doing the duathlon in Amana on Saturday to break it up a bit.
